AZAPC is proud to announce the Tucson SkyCenter trip on October 10 (limited 15 people, first come first serve). 本會將於十月十日舉辦吐桑(祖筍) SkyCenter 參訪 (限15人,按報名次序).
SkyCenter is one of the key research facilities in Arizona that contributes to the space exploration led by NASA. SkyCenter 是亞歷桑那州天文研究的重要基地更是許多 NASA 計劃中的核心機構.

This is an EXCLUSIVE PROGRAM that Adam Block, Public Observing Coordinator of the SkyCenter, has put together for our club. It will cover how space photographs are made (as seen on NASA web site), seeing the camera that is used, the work needed to process the photo, and a tour of the SkyCenter which includes viewing the stars through a telescope. $75 per person. Leaving at 9:00 am (car pool) from Tzu-Chi foundation. It takes about 4 to 4-1/2 hours to get to the SkyCenter from Phoenix. The program starts from 3:00pm to 9:00pm. You have the options of driving back to Phoenix or staying overnight in Tucson (Suggested La Quita Inn located at 6404 E. Broadway, Tucson, AZ for $69.00). Lodging arrangement is not included in the program. Directions: Find Catalina Highway on the northeast side of Tucson. Follow the road up 27 miles towards the town of Summerhaven. Allow 90 minutes driving time to get from Tucson proper to the top of Mt. Lemmon. The Mt. Lemmon SkyCenter is at an altitude of 9,157ft. AZAPC president Jeff Jenq was invited to photograph the Miss Phoenix Chinese beauty pageant on July 4th.  Here are some pictures to share. http://jeffjenq.zenfolio.com/p256278529  All stage shots were taken handheld without flash from at least 40 feet away. The equipment used was Fujifilm Finepix S5 and Nikon 18-200mm VR. As you can see, he really pushed the low light capability of the camera to the limit (turn on the “shooting info” in the slideshow mode to view the camera parameters).  Jeff’s conclusion: I can appreciate the extreme low light capability brought along by the latest high-end D-SLR such as Nikon D700, Nikon D3, and Canon 5D MKII, just to name a few. Now, start saving up!

In March 6 meeting, AZAPC founder, William Wong, explained the basic functions of photography such as ISO, shutter, aperture, flash, and composition to achieve intended effect.  三月六日,本會創辦人黃一帆講解了攝影的基本原理. 與會者攜帶了相機,學習如何依不同的景物調整感光度(ISO),快門,光圈,閃光燈,取景,來達成特殊的效果.

AZAPC presented awards to the winners of the Children's Photo Contest. 兒童攝影比賽頒獎

Arizona Asian Photography Club (AZAPC) presented the awards for the children’s photography contest during the annual Chinese Week celebration. The winning photos were voted anonymously by a panel of judges based on the criteria of creativity. 為培養亞裔下一代對攝影的興趣,亞省亞裔攝影協會舉辦了兒童攝影比賽. 眾多投稿在經多位評審委員以匿名方式下,選出了優勝作品. The senior Chinese community leader, former state legislator, and former state commissioner of commerce, Barry Wong was invited to present the trophies, digital cameras, and cash award to the winners of the contest. 攝影協會並假中國週邀請華裔前州眾議員及前州商務委員Barry Wong為得獎小朋友頒發包含獎盃,數位相機,獎學金等的獎勵.  They are group 6-9 (兒童組), first place 第一名 Natalie Jenq (age 7), second place 第二名Monet Tam (age 8), and third place 第三名 Wilson Tran (age 9). Group 10-13 (少年組), first place 第一名 Kindra Wang (age 12), second place 第二名 Kimberley Tsiang (age 10), and third place 第三名 Gina Xu (age 10).

Twenty-one members showed up in the field trip to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum on December 21, 2008.  The weather was nice and the scenery was gorgeous.  We were especially pleased to see child and teen-age members having tons of fun exploring their sense of creativity using a digital camera.  十二月二十一日的 Boyce Thompson Arboretum 植物生態公園習影非常成功. 二十一位同好包含好幾位小朋友享受了美好的一天.
